Nomination Information:

The importance of submitting a detailed nomination: The Selection Committee will consider all information available to them during the selection process. The most important information comes from the nomination form. In order for the committee to make accurate comparisons and decisions, the nomination form should have as much detail as possible.

A detailed nomination includes: specific years of service/play, yearly and/or overall records, awards and recognitions earned, personal and team statistics (goals, assists, championships, etc.), impact on soccer in CT and other, licenses held, important accomplishments, organizations, positions held, place in history, etc. It should also be concise (think of a soccer resume) but also contain the necessary information for the selection committee to make an informed decision.

General Guidelines for Nominees:

Players: Players reached or are no longer active at their highest level of play, (Pro Leagues, U.S. National Team, etc.) Considerations will be level of play, championships, awards & recognitions, (All-American, Player of the Year, etc.), soccer statistics and records (goals, assists, personal & team records), and positive impact on the game.

Coaches: Considerations for coaches include longevity of service, championships, awards & recognitions, overall record of success, players developed, and positive impact on the game.

Referees: Referees have reached or are no longer active at their highest level of service. Considerations include longevity of service, important matches officiated, positions held, and positive impact on the game.

Administrators: Considerations for administrators include longevity of service, positions held, organizational impact, and positive impact on the game.

Media: Considerations for media include longevity, overall coverage of the game, audience impact (local, national, international), production (books written, website, blogs, etc.), and positive impact on the game.

All: All nominees must have participated in Connecticut soccer. Nominees who have come through CT before moving to higher levels out of state will also qualify, however, the Connecticut experience is an important factor that will be considered in these circumstances. The time period a nominee was active will be considered due to opportunities available at the time. For example, pro league and national team opportunities were not available to women until the 1990s and 2000’s.
